Episode 10, Child's Play (Printable Version)

A navy blue 2006 Ford Explorer stopped in front of the entrance to an alley which was covered in yellow crime scene tape and filled with police officers looking around for clues.

Alex and his father James got of the SUV and ran over to Anthony who was stood up over a body near a dumpster, Anthony turned and frowned, "Alex, I don't know if you all should be here."

Alex growing concern, he rubbed his head, "We heard you found a body that met the description of Nathan?"

Anthony stuffed his hands in his pockets nodding, "We found the body in this dumpsters with two gun wounds to the chest."

"Well is it him?" James demanded desperately.

"I'm sorry." Anthony quietly stated, as he walked off.

Alex looked at his father then kneeled down by the body, tear begin to stream down his face, "Nathan I'm so sorry." he sobbed, as he uncovered the body.

Alex sat up in the bed in a cold sweat, struggling to catch his breath, "It was a dream." he whispered to himself in an attempt to calm down.

He frowned noticing his blackberry buzzing, he reached over and picked it up, "This is Dr. Smith." he answered wiping the sweat off his forehead with his bed sheet.

"Hey Alex, It's Anthony. Do you think you can come down to the station. We have some information on your nephew."

"I'm on the way!"

Scene 2- Jones and Sterling Law Firm

William sat at his desk reviewing a contract for a new client who was recently hired at Veritas Inc. he sighed ripping up the contract, "this isn't going to work." he stated to himself throwing the contract in the trash.

"Bud, we need to talk." Shaugnessy announced as she closed the door.

William looked up at his little sister and smirked, "Whatever happened to hey, how are you doing?"

Shaugnessy narrowed her eyes at William dropping her purse in the seat closest to her, "It flew away!" she snapped back.

"Just like your wife had planned on doing with Demetrius!"

William sat up thrown off a bit, "What are you ranting about now?"

"My friends and I caught Felicia in a sexy little dress waiting for Demetrius."

"I know about that, they're supposed to be sealing a deal with some woman named Diane Sharp." William explained.

"Well at least they we're until you blew everyone out of proportion!"

Shaugnessy placed her hands on her hips, "So you knew about what happened yesterday?"

William confirmed with a slight nod, "and I'd appreciated if you'd backed the hell off."

Scene 3- The Sterling Building

Gloria flew into the boardroom and join Demetrius, Travis, Paige, Felicia and Tiffany at the round table, "What is this about?" she asked bluntly, glancing at everyone.

Tiffany stood up with a slight smile, "We have a growing situation on our hands, and our stockholders are not happy." she explained walking to the front of room.

Travis adjusted his glasses as he sat up in his seat, "Why is that?" he calmly inquired.

"Do you have to ask? Isn't it obvious with "Ruby Lips'" recent promotion?" Gloria barked

"Ruby Lips!?!" Felicia challenged.

Travis laughed amused his sister who was still sore from the fact she had to share the position of Vice president with someone she didn't like.

Paige stood up and joined Tiffany, "One thing we're going to have to do is stop the fighting. That's sending a terrible message to our stockholders." she advised as she opened her portfolio.

Gloria rapidly tapped her pen on the desk, "What are they saying about Felicia's promotion? Are they're any concerns."

Demetrius grew annoyed with his daughter constant shots at Felicia, "Gloria I wish you'd drop this whole situation! Your cruelty to Felicia is not helping this situation."

Gloria shot out of her seat, "And you constantly undermining me, your own flesh and blood isn't helping this situation either. You know what I'm going to leave before I say something I may regret!"

Gloria stormed out of the boardroom, her ranting could be heard even as she got further and further away from the room.

Paige slammed her portfolio shut, disapointed as everyone else began to leave, she looked at a disappointed Tiffany, "that went well." she whispered.

Scene 4- The Sterling Mansion

Carmella slide open the glass door to the balcony and walked over to Lisa with a glass of milk. "I bought you some warm milk. How are you feeling?"

Lisa smiled warming taking the glass of milk, "A lot better, thanks for asking." she responded taking a sip from the milk.

Carmella beamed, "well that's good, if you need me I'll be in the kitchen."

Lisa nodded her head and turned back to the waves as Carmella went back inside. Lisa touched her belly, she was still surprised at the fact that she was pregnant. But scared knowing that Travis' ex was around, she knew Marsha would do anything to hurt her or Travis.

Lisa quickly gulped down the rest of the milk, "Get strong, my little one." she said softly.

Lisa lost herself in thought, remembering the last time Marsha was in town.

"Marsha please, I'm begging you! Don't do this!" Lisa pleaded through her tears. "It's my wedding day."

Marsha glared at Lisa, backing her up into a corner, "If you hadn't stole him away from me, today would MY wedding day!"

Lisa whimpered softly, "I didn't take him away, you left. You just can't come back after three years and expect everything to be good again."

Marsha drew back her hand and slapped Lisa, "you little bitch! Don't you every say that to me again! With you gone everything WILL BE GOOD AGAIN!"

"All Travis has to do is forget about you." Marsha explained pointing her 9mm at Lisa head, "And I'm going to be the one who helps him forget."

Lisa trembled in fear, as she came back to reality, "I can't tell anyone about this baby."

Scene 5- The San Diego Police Station

Alex, James and Ashley rushed into the police station and into Anthony's office, "My brother said you may have found something?" Ashley quizzed walking into the office.

Anthony sat halfway on his desk, "Well we have someone who claimed they witnessed a someone kidnapped a young man who could be Nathan."

Ashley's eyes widen as she looked at her brother and father, "Who would kidnap my son?" she exclaimed.

Anthony laid his 3x5 note cards on the desk, "Let's not jump the broom her Ash, we're not for sure if that's your son."

Ashley sighed sitting back in the seat, "Damn it why is this happening?" she whined as tears began to fall down her face.

"Don't worry, Ashley." James softly stated placing a hand on Ashley's shoulder. "Nathan is stronger than we think."

Ashley nodded taking a deep breath.

"I think we should call your mother." James suggested.

"Okay." Ashley agreed.

Ashley and James exited the room, Alex followed and closed the door.

"Tell me, Ant. Was that boy my nephew?"

Scene 6- The Sterling Building

Gloria walked into her office and exhaled running her fingers through her hair, "I'm really starting to hate this place." she uttered to herself.

"Then why don't you leave!" Felicia suggested calmly standing in the doorway.

"I beg your pardon?" replied Gloria as she turned sharply to face Felicia.

"Leave, that way I won't have to share the duties of V.P. with you."

Gloria laughed to herself amazed at Felicia's boldness, "Are you serious?"

"Listen Felicia, I'm not going to entertain your antics today. I think it's best if you left." warned Gloria walking over to her file cabinet.

"You don't scare me, Gloria!" Felicia growled. "I'm not backing down."

Gloria snatched a folder out and slammed the cabinet shut, growing angry, "Why do you insist on pissing me off? Now I've asked you calmly to leave."

"Now I want you to understand something, you are going to leave this office. Either involuntarily or voluntarily, which is it going to be?" Gloria asked laying down the on her desk.

Felicia smirked crossing her arms, "Gloria, I'm going to be the best damn V. P. that I can! Sooner or later there's going to be only one V.P."

Gloria narrowed her eyes coldly at Felicia, sitting down in her office chair, "You're in over your head, Ruby Lips!"

"We'll see about that!" Felicia snapped back before storming out of Gloria's office.

Gloria tapped her fingers against herself recapping in her mind what just happened, "What a bitch!"

Scene 7- The Sterling Mansion

Travis hung his jacket on the hanger by the front door, before walking into the living room "Lisa??" he called out.

He pursed his lips growing weary after he didn't hear a response, he hurried into the kitchen, "Oh there you are." he smiled feeling relieved.

Lisa looked up at Travis and smiled as she continued to stir a pot, "yes, I'm right here!" she said softly walking over to him.

Travis grinned placing a soft kiss on her lips, "Feeling better, baby?"

Lisa kissed him back pinching his left cheek gently, "Yes a lot better. Scott said I'll be able to go back to work next week. I really miss my students."

Travis smiled, "What are you cooking?"

Lisa giggled, she didn't know the first thing about a stove let alone cook something on it, "I was stirring this pot for Carmella, while she went to wine cellar to get Demetrius' favorite wine." she explained.

"But she's been gone for along time now."

"hmm?" Travis uttered with a shrug, "who knows, you know how she gets going sometimes."

Marsha stood in the wine cellar holding a bottle of Moet, "Travis and I used to drink this. Do you remember that, Carmella?" she asked turning to face Carmella, who was tied to a chair.

Marsha sat down in a chair across from her and popped the cork on the bottle and took a swig from it, "This must have been a good year for this bottle."

"Would you like a drink?" she offered with a school girl grin.

Carmella spit at Marsha's face but missed "I'm glad Travis never took you back after you left him!" she exclaimed.

"I never liked you, Carmella." Marsha replied calmly taking another swig from the bottle. "You know wile you're down here you should work on your aim because you missed."

"And never say never! Anything is possible."

Scene 8- Jones and Sterling Law Firm

"William, I don't know what lies Felicia's has told you but something is up with her and Demetrius." Shaugnessy explained.

William placed his hands on his desk and rose to his feet, "My wife is NOT cheating on me."

Shaugnessy threw her hands up in the air, giving up " William you always get blindsided by these simple women, and you never see what's right in front on you."

William laughed in his sisters face, "Simple? Do you realize the woman you're talking about is the mother of my son and daughter. Who I think you love?"

Shaugnessy gasped, hurt by William's comment, "Don't you ever question my love for Duane and Sarah...that's not fair!" she exclaimed.

"And accusing my wife of adultery isn't fair either."

"I can tell this isn't going anywhere, so I'm going to leave." she growled bagging her purse. "But I'll tell you one thing, don't come crying to me when Miss Princess breaks your heart."

William stared blankly at Shaugnessy, he opened his mouth to respond but the phone interrupted him, "I gotta take this."

Shaugnessy rolled her eyes and left closing the door behind her, William huffed then took his seat answering the phone, "Hello?"

"William honey!" spoke Felicia on the other end of the line.

"Hey baby." he said with a beaming smile, "Are we still on for tonight before Sarah leaves for Paris?"

"About that...honey I'm going to have to meet you all at the airport." Felicia explained. "I have a meeting with Demetrius that can't wait."

William sighed in disappointment, "Not this again."

"I'm sorry baby, I have to go now. I'll see you all in a bit."

William hung up the phone then looked at his watch, "Who has a meeting this late in the afternoon?" he asked himself.

"Something isn't right."

Scene 9- The San Diego Police Department

"Anthony, did you hear me? Was that my nephew?" Alex asked growing impatient.

Anthony adjusted his police belt unsure how to respond to question his friend asked him, "To be honest with you Alex, I'm not sure. We've got people scoping the place and out new D.A. is on of it so right now I don't know.""

Alex frowned as the radio on the wall began to buzz, "Young Bi-racial male around the ages of 18-21 has been found badly beaten behind the Morrowian Bistro. Victim is said to be in critical condition."

As the dispatcher continued to explain the situation, Alex and Anthony grew alarmed as Ashley and James walked in on the dispatch.

"Alex that could be Nathan!" Ashley cried grabbing her father's shoulder "Where are they taking him?"

"To the hospital." Anthony responded quickly, grabbing his keys. "Come on you all can follow me."

Alex nodded, "Thanks."

James and Anthony rushed out as Ashley grabbed her purse, she walked up to her brother, "My son has to be alright."

Alex frowned, "Everything is going to be fine, now come on let's go."

Scene 10- Veritas Building

"Boy I've must have done something right this week." Jonathan chortled looking up from his desk, at his Demetrius who stood in the doorway. "Two Sterling employee have been to see me in less than two days."

Demetrius clasped his hands together walking in, "Just thought I'd stop by and see how the competition was doing?"

Jonathan stood up from his seat and pouted, "Why is everyone so concerned about the production of Veritas? You must not be doing too are you?"

Demetrius stood up and straight and placed his hands behind his back, "If I recall we met our quota. What about you all?"

"What does it matter to you?" Jonathan growled. "As a matter of fact, why are you here?"

Demetrius chuckled to himself, "I didn't want to pass up the opportunity to congratulate you on a job well done."

"what?" Jonathan quickly snapped back.

"Helping us meet our quota. If you hadn't ripped our dresses we probably wouldn't sold as many designs as we did." Demetrius explained, trying to contain his laughter. "You truly are a blessing my friend."

"I'm not you friend Demetrius!"

"Anyone who helps me succeed is a friend." Demetrius responded as his reached in his suit coat pocket. He pulled out some scissors that had the name Veritas engraved on both blades and laid them on Jonathan's desk.

"What are these?" Jonathan asked examining the scissors.

"These were found in our dressing room after the show."

Jonathan looked up quickly realizing he was caught.

"Next time Jonathan, make sure you have all of your supplies before you leave." Demetrius advised with a slight grin.

Jonathan's face turn red as his glared at Demetrius, "Get out before I literally kick you out!"

Demetrius nodded, "Very well then." he turned and exited the room quietly, leaving Jonathan and his stupidity alone in his office. He picked up the scissors and them across the room.
