Episode 19 - "This Cannot Be in the Script" (Printable Version)

Scene 1-2300 Proximity Lane

The morning sun rose over San Diego, exposing the light damages done by terrible storm that seemed to last all night. The light breeze, birds chirping and squirrels wondering in the neighborhood gave signs that everything was beginning to return to normal...at least for the animals. Yellow crime scene tape covered the perimeter of the house which used to be a loving home for Anthony and Paige. Police officers walked around the yard looking for evidence to help in their investigation on the shooting which took place last night.

Upstairs, Paige sat on the bed shaking from fear as the paramedic lifted Maurice's body on the gurney and carry him out of the room.

"Detective Wilson, will be up in a minute to ask you a few questions, Mrs. Morrow." one of the officer informed her putting the lens cover back on the camera that he used to take pictures of the crime scene. "are you okay?

Paige remained silent and continued to stare at nothing. Last night events still played in her head, she couldn't believe any of it happened. The disappointment on Anthony's face after seeing her in bed with Maurice continued to haunt her.

Jonas walked into the bedroom and headed over to the officer with the camera, "What are we looking at here?"

"A homicide...husband came in. Found the wife in bed with his best friend and shot him."

"Do we have a suspect?" Jonas asked quietly, looking in Paige's direction.

The officer frowned, he was really fond of Anthony and thought he was a great captain, it was truly a tragic situation. "Captain Morrow." he answered reluctantly, then walked out of the room.

Jonas exhaled it felt like someone took a ton of bricks and threw them on his back. He walked over to Paige and sat beside her on the bed.

"Mrs. Morrow, can you tell me what happened?"

Scene 2-KIOU News Station

An eerie feeling crept through the news station, no one said a word to each other as they prepared for noon newscast. News of Maurice shooting shocked everyone, Maurice was the only Executive Producer the station ever knew, he practically built the station from the ground up.

Brad hurried into the news studio and searched for his wife, he knew she needed him. He approached the desk with a coffee and laid it in front of Sharon who looked down at a picture of her and Maurice. Maurice was more than her boss, he was her best friend they told each other everything. He and his friends were only people nice to her when she first moved to San Diego, they practically made her an horary member of their group. She knew something bad would come from this but she never expected Anthony to kill his best friend.

"it seems unreal." Sharon whispered trying to keep back her tears as Brad approached her.

Brad touched Sharon's hand in efforts to comfort her, "I can only imagine what you're going through...Anthony and Maurice were your friends weren't they?"

Sharon nodded as the tears slowly came down her face, "I tried to stop Maurice...I told him it was wrong and he told me everything was going to be alright."

"Maybe I should've done more!"

Brad walked around the table and sat down beside her, "We can't save everyone, babe. Please don't blame yourself."

Sharon looked at Brad and wiped away her tears as one of the producers came up to the news desk, "I'm sorry Sharon, but we need you to cover Maurice's shooting for the lead story. Everything is written you just have read it."

Sharon slowly took the write up for the news paper and read over it as tears streamed down her eyes. The first line read "Captain turned Murderer"

Scene 3-St. Marks Memorial Hospital

Felicia sat by the window in the lobby of the emergency room with a blanket wrapped around her shoulders and small bruise on the left side of her forehead. It was miracle Jonathan found her and Travis in the wrecked car that embedded itself in the tree, only god knows what would've happened to them...if Jonathan's flight hadn't of been cancelled. She looked over at Jonathan who paced back and forth waiting to hear word on Travis' condition or for the arrival of Lisa or anyone of the Sterlings.

The elevator doors opened for William who rushed down the hall looking for Felicia, he saw Jonathan and hurried over to him, then kept passed him finding Felicia sitting by the window, he was filled with mixed emotions, relieved that she was ok but outraged with her for sleeping with Demetrius...but now was not the time for that.

"Felicia."

Felicia smiled, slowly standing up she was still sore from the wreck, she hugged him tightly as tears began to stream down her face, "I thought I was going to die."

William hugged her back loosely, he tried to smile but the pain that she caused him wouldn't allow him to, "You're ok now."

"How is Duane and Sarah?"

"They don't know yet. We'll tell them when we get home." William answered taking a step back to examine the bruises on his wife. He looked over at Jonathan a man who he hated dearly but was thankful he saved his wife's life. "I owe you."

Jonathan nodded, usually he would've said something to remind everyone he was an asshole but he was too concerned about his son in law.

"Dr. Smith to O-R immediately!!! Dr. Smith to O-R immediately."

Jonathan, William and Felicia hurried out into the hallway as a few doctors and nurses ran pass them towards the Operating Room.

"Hurry up or we're going to lose to him." one of doctors yelled as he closed the door to the O.R.

Scene 4-The Morrowian Bistro

The closed sign turned a few customers away who were expecting to get a hot breakfast this morning. Paul decided to open late figuring that most people would stay home to clean up from the storm. Anthony hurried up to the door and tried to open it.

"Damn!" he groaned he had to get out of sight, news about Maurice's shooting was probably getting out and he knew the police would be after him soon. Anthony took out his key and opened the door, he hurried in then locked it.

He looked around becoming overwhelmed with grief, his father's restaurant was where he met Paige. Tears streamed down his face remembered the passion that was written all over Paige's face as Maurice made love to her. Anthony didn't intend on shooting Maurice but he was so angry he didn't care about anything or anyone at that moment, he wanted Maurice to feel the same pain he was feeling...too bad it was that last thing Maurice felt.

"Anthony?" Paul said laying a crate of clean glasses on the bar, "Why aren't you at work?"

Anthony buried his face in his hands as he began to sob, he didn't know what else to do.

Paul walked over to Anthony and kneeled down beside him, "Did you talk to Paige?"

"I caught her in bed with Maurice."

Paul frowned as he pulled up a chair beside his son, "I'm sorry."

Anthony looked up at his father, "She told me she love him."

"Then the gun went off...I shot Maurice."

Paul eyes opened wide shocked, "Is he dead?"

Anthony shrugged, "I don't know, but dad I have to get out of here."

Scene 5-St. Marks Memorial Hospital

Gloria, Lisa, Demetrius and Melanie waited patiently in the room Travis would be brought to after recovery. No one said a word to each other, Gloria and Lisa sat beside each other holding hands both scared they could lose Travis. Melanie wiped the tears that streamed down her face, knowing Demetrius slept with Felicia and trying to cope with the reality her son could die slowly nipped away at her soul.

"Alex should've been in here by now." Demetrius whispered standing up, "I want to know if my son is going to live!"

Gloria shot her father a cold glare through her tears, "Are you sure you're not feeling guilty?"

"Guilty?" Demetrius asked, he didn't want to argue anymore with anyone and he was tired of putting up with Gloria and her nagging. "You're not blaming me for this are you?"

"You did send him off with Ruby lips!" Gloria snapped back.

"You did what?" Melanie asked looking at Demetrius, "Demetrius you knew there was a storm going on.!"

Alex walked in with Travis' medical chart, he closed the door making sure the door clicked when he closed it.

"How is he?" Lisa asked sitting up, holding her stomach.

Alex sighed wiping his face, "Travis suffered from some very serious gashes on his face and lost a huge amount of blood."

"Alex please...Is Travis going to live?" Gloria asked not caring about the details all she only wanted to hear the her brother was dead or alive.

Alex nodded, "We were able to stitch his face but during surgery he had a seizure so we had to induce him into a coma."

"When will he wake up?" Demetrius asked softly, trying not to blame himself for his son's accident.

"I'm not sure...couple of hours...couple of days. We'll just have to wait and see."

Scene 6-KIOU News Station

Sharon looked at the news script in disbelief and handed it to Brad, then looked at the producers, "Can't do this...the suspect is the brother of one of our anchors."

"She'll just have to understand news is news." the producer replied apologetically before walking off.

Tears ran down Sharon's face, "Listen, I can't do this!"

Brad laid the paper down and walked over to Sharon and placed his hands on her shoulders, "Listen, babe...I know you don't want to do this but you have to do your job."

Sharon shook her head, she couldn't go through with reporting Maurice's story, especially knowing that Eva would retaliate by showing the pictures of Demetrius and Felicia making love to all of San Diego.

"Brad you don't understand..."

Brad hugged Sharon and kissed her on the forehead, "Everything will be fine I promise."

"I have to go get ready we're going on in five." Sharon grabbed the script and hurried to the back, this was one of those times she had to do something she didn't want to in order to keep her job, only god knows what was going to happen next.

Scene 7-2300 Proximity Lane

"Mrs. Morrow I know this is hard for you, but I need you to tell me what happened?" Jonas asked politely.

Paige sniffled trying to find the words to even began to tell the detective, how could she tell him that she broken her vows and fell in love with another man, that she was the one that drove Anthony to shooting his best friend.

"It's all my fault." Paige sobbed, "I did this to him!"

"Anthony...he loved me, he did everything for me and I messed everything up by sleeping with his best friend."

Jonas sighed growing frustrated with Paige, he wasn't concerned about the affair but he decided to play along, "What happen last night?"

"Anthony's sister and I got into a fight, I came home...that's when Maurice came back here to check on me."

"Then what?"

"Maurice and I ended up in making love, that's when Anthony walked in on us and things went crazy." she whispered.

"I WAS OUT MAKE A BETTER LIFE FOR US. DON'T YOU DARE TELL ME WHAT I DID WRONG."

"ANTHONY I LOVE HER!" Maurice shouted back, "I love her man and I don't know what else to tell you."

Anthony looked at Paige with hurt in is eyes, "Do you love him?"

The sound of the gun going off echoed around in Paige's head, "I'm sorry Detective but I don't want to talk about this anymore."

"Do you know where Anthony is now?"

Paige shook her head, "No...and I'd like to be alone now."

Jonas stood up, "Alright, please call us when you're ready to talk again."

Scene 8-St Marks Memorial Hospital

Randy walked into the lobby with three cups of coffee, he sat down between Jackie and Jasmine, "Any word?" he asked handing a cup to Jasmine.

"Alex said he's in a coma...they're not sure when he'll wake up." Jasmine answered passing the cup to Jonathan.

"None of this makes sense why was Felicia and Travis out on the road during that horrible storm?" Jonathan asked, drinking from his cup.

"That's what I'm here to find out?" the detective uttered taking a mini notebook as he approached them. "I'm Detective Grainger Fields, and I have a few questions that need answering."

"What do you mean?" Jasmine asked, looking at Grainger.

"Unexplained skids marks were found several miles away from the crash scene which matched the tires on the car Mrs. Jones was driving."

Randy stood up then crossed his arms, nobody in the room was in the mood to answer any questions nor did they know. "My brother is in a coma and the woman driving the car has gone home...Is there something that we don't know about this accident?"

Grainger put his notepad back in his blazer. He looked at Randy taking out one of his business cards, he looked Randy in his eyes and it wasn't to read him to see if he was lying. Grainger never seen eyes as green as his and he wanted to get to know this interesting guy.

"Give me a call when your brother wakes up. We would like to speak with him."

Randy took the card and handed it to Jasmine, "My sister who's an attorney will be in contact with you."

Jasmine smiled and nodded.

Grainger smiled back at Jasmine, "I'll be looking forward to hearing from you then." he responded then made his way to the elevator.

"What the...?" Jonathan looked up at the television screen that showed a picture of Maurice Braswell, "Can somebody turn that up?"

One of the nurses from the nurses station pointed the remote to the television also interested to see how KIOU 's Executive Producer made the news, as Sharon's voice stated...

"Police calls this an unfolding tragedy as a Captain turns murderer. Our very own Maurice Braswell was found with two gun wounds to the chest. Detective Jonas Wilson say Anthony Morrow, Captain of the San Diego Police Department shot his best friend after finding him in bed with his wife...Anthony is missing, police believe he is armed and dangerous if you have any information on the whereabouts of Anthony Morrow please dial 9-1-1."

Scene 9-The Morrow House

Eva sat in speechless watching the news report which make Anthony looked like a cold blooded killer, in their opinion. Eva quickly grabbed a remote and turned the TV off, "I can't believe this! My brother is the victim here!"

The door opened Leona and Paul walked in, Eva dropped the remote as ran to her mother and hugged her, "Where's Anthony?"

"He's hiding out at the bistro." Paul uttered dropping his keys on the counter.

Leona frowned then sat down, "This is all over the radio!"

"Not to mention the news too...I can't believe they would broadcast this. Did they not forget Anthony is my brother?" Eva snarled tapping her foot.

Paul sighed, "We need to do something?"

Leona crossed her arms unsure of what to do anymore, "When I see Paige I'm going to choke the life out of her!"

"The police will be here soon." Eva stated. "Where is Anthony going to stay?"

Paul scratched his cheek thinking, "alright listen...maybe he can hide out with my sister Sydney?"

"Or what about my mother's house?" Leona suggested.

"I'm going to go down to station and clear this mess up!" Eva announced grabbed her purse as she stormed out of the house without closing the door.

"This is just a mess." Leona moaned.

Scene 10-The Morrowian Bistro

Jonas wondered in from the back entrance looking around, he wasn't sure if Anthony was in there so he came without back up...he prayed to God that Anthony really wasn't armed and dangerous.

"Anthony?" he whispered creeping into the Paul's office, "Are you there?"

Anthony snuck up behind Jonas and put him in a submission hold, "I'm not going to jail!" he growled struggling to keep Jonas pinned.

"I want to help you!" Jonas tried to break free but it was no use, "Just let me go!"

"How do I know I can trust you?"

"You're not in handcuffs are you?"

"Doesn't mean a damn thing." Anthony snarled tightening his grip.

"Anthony please...I can help!"

Anthony thought about it then loosened his grip, "I need to get out of here...without anyone knowing!"

"Come with me!"
